The Wedding Addition

June 2011

Wedding Season seems to be going right through the year this year, with so many beautiful weddings under the belt the past few weeks, I am compelled to do a real wedding show case! Not even the floods managed to spoil the last few ceremonies. Congratulations to the recently newlyweds! We were thrilled to coordinate your dream day!

Durandt & Candice-Lee Gerber

June 2011

Candice & Durandt had a few challenges coming up to the wedding day, with hubby Durandt being chosen for the Italian World Cup Rugby squad, the wedding had to be postponed! Where ever did you hear of a bride moving the wedding date so the groom could play rugby? Well done on you Candice, it just goes to show when you are committed to each other and have the best interest of your partner at heart nothing is too much to overcome and with a few pulled strings form Tramonto’s side, the date was set for two weeks later than originally planned. What a lovely couple, down to earth and absolutely radiant on the best day of their lives!

Paul & Wilma Fourie

June 2011

From the day Paul and I got engaged, we decided that our wedding was going to be an entire weekend where our guests truly experience a celebration of love and what love was meant to be like. We were married at our Venue in George on a beautiful April afternoon, not even the fact that it poured with rain later that afternoon could affect the wonderful mood as the Venue is prepared to handle anything! The glorious fireplaces and pre-reception cocktails just added to a cosy atmosphere.

We both love things that are timeless, and this was the main idea when we decided on our wedding theme, it had to be elegant, stylish and when we look back on our wedding photos in 20years time, we should still love our décor! Therefore we went for a vintage theme with a personal twist and touch.

June 2011

The colour scheme was shades of greys and creams, with a touch of black. We played around with different textures when it came to the ribbons, lace & fabrics we used.

We just love the look of long tables and finished it off with antique chandeliers hanging above the tables and 3 bigger chandeliers in front of mirrors behind the main table.

A personal touch was brought in everywhere to assure that guests felt special and part of a personal occasion. We branded everything in a vintage logo with our names on, all the thank you notes were personally directed to each person involved in our wedding and written in the church programmes, each guest had a hand-written calligraphy name place card, written by Paul’s mother. Each guest received personalised candy and a bottle of water before the church ceremony.

We decided to give our guests a little taste of our engagement by putting the wine from wine farm where we got engaged, Wederom in Robertson, on the tables.

Guests also received a vanilla & orange cupcake with a lemon curd filling and white Lindt chocolate topping as gifts in little white boxes, finished off with a black ribbon and personal thank you note.

Paul & I are both not very good with remembering birthdays… so we decided to have monthly calendars designed in our wedding theme and guests could write in a small message on their birthday, instead of sending around a guest book for guests to write in messages. Now we don’t have an excuse to forget!

We also wanted to move away from the unnecessary traditional aspect of a wedding that didn’t really have an important meaning.

Instead of the traditional red carpet –we had a cream and white candy striped isle runner printed with our names in a vintage logo.

One of the highlights of the evening was an 8-piece swing band, The Sticky Triggers, from Cape Town, who really got the crowd on their feet and kept them on the dance floor!

We have both waited for that soul mate who just brings out the best in you, that one person who is not only your best friend whom you can share everything with, but the person you fell in love with head over heels and still feel that way! We do everything together and from the day we met, our lives became an adventure together, one that will continue for the rest of our lives. Paul is so talented with writing; we also used letters he wrote to me while we were still dating in our wedding invitations. But one of the things I just loved was: “I love you more with every breath I take, and I will keep on breathing…” and this is exactly how I feel about our lives together!

In the Bride’s own words:

My dag was perfek!

Alhoewel ons perfekte, groot dag verby is het ons sprokie maar nog net begin…
