So you just got engaged and almost as soon as the ring is on your finger you get bitten by the wedding planning bug... which is a good thing of course, but Timing is Everything! Allowing enough time to plan a wedding is essential but starting too early can cause unnecessary double work, not to mention the risk of the groom taking a hike..! Here are a few things you should and shouldn’t plan more than a year in advance.
Get on it:
• Book your Venue. (Tramonto of course, we will even give you a nifty little black book that gives you a guided timeline!)
• Find and book a Professional Photographer to capture your dream event in the style that suites you best.
• Keep a diary and make mood boards of the things you like.
• Budget.
• Show off your ring!!
Get over it:
• Deciding on a definite theme (this will also influence your stationary) more than a year in advance? Not advisable. Your personal style changes with the different experiences you have during a year, trends change and new doors open! Don’t shut them before you have had a chance to make informed decisions.
• You grow as a couple, choosing delicate details like opening dance songs and compiling guest lists are a no-no, during your engagement year you certainly grow closer, revel in it before piling on the stress. Your list of friends is likely to expand and your experiences are sure to influence the little personal details.
• Prices Change! Buying that dream dress for thousands only to find it on sale three months later, you could’ve had more flowers at the reception! Not to mention losing or gaining a few ounces!
• Guaranteed: Your groom loves you for YOU, and before the proposal you likely talked about so many other things, don’t send him packing by sweating the small stuff!
